Södertuna Slott
English Park

Dating back to the 18th century
Historic castle park
The ancient English Park at Södertuna Slott outside Gnesta has a rich history behind it. The original English park was laid out in the 1790s. According to historical accounts, there was a manor called Wad here as early as the 14th century, where people also grew, most likely kitchen plants for sustenance, as cultivation for pleasure and beauty only came when people could afford to spare land for that purpose.
There is still a small kitchen garden at the castle where everything from oregano and lemon balm to beautiful tagetes grow. The kitchen garden is adapted to the season and based on what the chefs want in terms of taste and appearance.

Lush green tranquillity
Stroll in Södertuna's lush castle park
Södertuna's castle park is like most English parks - lush and undulating with soft, beautiful and natural forms where nature itself is the main character. Unlike French parks, which try to control nature with more straight and strict forms that are constantly polished. The park has a very nice spring flora, with fields of white anemones in early May, and a rich mushroom flora in the fall, which is a welcome addition to the castle's restaurant.
When you visit Södertuna Slott , we recommend that you take a walk on the park's walking path, stop and enjoy the view over Frösjön towards Gnesta - a fantastic view. A visit to Södertuna Castle Park gives you as a visitor the opportunity for nature experiences and recreation while you can clearly feel the time axis of history. Welcome to the park!
